Request a basement inspection
If water is coming in right now, call. For a crack you've been watching, an aging sump pump or a damp basement, send a request and a local company will call you back.
Before you call
It helps to have:
- Your address, so the request reaches a company that works in your town
- Where the water shows up: floor edge, a crack, a window well, or just dampness
- Whether it happens after every rain, only in spring, or all the time
- Your foundation type if you know it: poured, block, brick or stone
- Whether the basement is finished or you plan to finish it
Water rising near outlets or the furnace? Stay out of standing water if anything electrical could be wet, and shut power to the basement at the panel only if you can reach it from a dry spot.
